Do you want to calm down, or do you need help?

Remember when your mom, dad, abuela, abuelo, tio, tia, older cousins, older siblings would tell you “te calmas o te calmo?” No? Just me?

Anyway, the older I get the more I find I'm telling myself this. Like when you have to say, “hay comida en la casa…” Although this quote refers more to children when they are misbehaving and their guardians want them to calm down, I tell myself this when I have too much energy for my own good, or let’s be honest for those around (sorry, coworkers!). This usually happens when I've had too much coffee. Sigh, I should know better, but I still do it. Hence, why I continuously tell myself, "Okay, Patty, te calmas o te calmo!” I don’t really know what the “o te calmo” part means; as a child, or even now to be honest. I think they might have put me on time out or encouraged me to take a nap, but now as an adult, it’s more of “¡calmate, ya!”

So, since I can’t take a nap at work, and my coworkers can’t really put me on time out, I usually just put my headphones on and listen to some calming acoustic music.

That's why this week's Music Friday is dedicated to those who consider themselves a ball of energy. If you need some mellow music because that coffee was a bit too strong, or you’re just feeling the Friday vibes, join me in listening to my new playlist.
