California Fiction Index (LAPL)
LAPL’s own index to fiction for adults which takes place in California. Can be searched by author, title, locale, decade in which the story takes place, subject keywords, and names of major characters.

Series and Sequels (LAPL)
LAPL’s listing of fiction books for adults which are part of a series or are sequels to earlier novels. Includes multi-author series like "Star Trek" as well as modern sequels to classics such as Sherlock Holmes and Jane Austen’s novels. A card backfile is gradually being added to the online database.


LAPL Reads
LAPL's own site with reviews by our Librarians, as well as suggested reading lists, hot titles and new by genre.

This "guide for avid readers" includes some reading lists. Most are relatively brief and often specialized, such as "Mars in Fiction". Emphasis is on genre fiction, particularly mysteries.

The Booklist Center
Billed as "The Web’s Largest Selection of Booklists"—currently 346 lists divided into 82 subject categories. Includes both fiction and nonfiction. Many of the lists are award winners or "best of" selections.

This website about organizing a reading group includes a "recommendations" section of booklists for such topics as "inspirational", "personal challenges", and "relationships". Includes fiction and nonfiction, mostly from the past ten years.
