As a hardcore Star Wars movie fan who’s wanted to get into the book series, this was a great introduction and start to my journey! This book introduces new villains commonly shown in the Clone Wars series but also includes many of the main characters from the prequel movies. The book's primary focus is the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan, now that they are not master and padawan.
Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker's brotherly relationship is one of my favorite ones I’ve ever seen in cinema. Their relationship is very complex, and this book explains their conflicting feelings regarding their attachments and the commands of the Jedi council. Anakin’s forbidden relationship and apparent disregard for many rules have affected their friendship. This book occurs before the Clone Wars and Episode 3: The Revenge of the Sith. I had no trouble getting into it, and as a fan familiar with Star Wars, there is no confusing information dump.
This book is packed with suspense and action and is filled with political issues in the Star Wars world that mirror the current ones in ours. Without trying to, the author gives much information that will make readers rethink who they think are the good and bad in the story. In addition, the author shows how Anakin’s childhood trauma continues to impact him and makes him irrational in many ways. If anyone is interested in reading this story, watch Episodes 1 and 2 of the Star Wars movies. : )
