Review:

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the first book of The Inheritance Games series. The book follows Avery Kylie Grambs, a high school girl who lost her mom and is now living with her step-sister Libby. Avery has just discovered that Tobias Hawthorne, a billionaire, has left her in his will. However, Avery will not simply inherit the fortune. She must play Tobias Hawthornes' inheritance game. To earn her reward, she must go to Texas and live in the Hawthorne House for one year—along with Tobias' four grandsons. Avery must work together with the Hawthorne family to solve the game and find the truth.

Avery, now in the spotlight, must deal with attacks from the media and attacks on her life. She must make appearances in society while dealing with assassination attempts. Meanwhile, the Hawthorne grandsons are trying to decipher why Avery inherited the Hawthorne fortune. Grayson Hawthorne, the second oldest of the four Hawthorne grandsons, aims to prove that Avery is a con artist. Avery must prove herself to the Hawthornes as she tries to discover why Tobias left her everything.

I liked the book because of its many plot twists. I read the book during the last week of break, and as soon as I finished it, I had to get the second one because the first one ended on a cliffhanger. I have recommended this book to my friends who like mysteries but also slow-burn romances, as there is a love triangle between Avery, Grayson, and Jameson Hawthorne (the third-oldest Hawthorne grandson).
