Create Your Own Mosquito Trap

DIY mosquito traps

Step 1

Cut a 2 liter soda bottle (not included) in half horizontally after removing the cap and label wrapping.

Step 2

Place a few pinches of fish food into the bottom half of the bottle. This is what attracts the mosquitoes to lay their eggs.

Step 3

Wrap the spout of the top half of the bottle with mesh and secure it with rubber bands.

Step 4

Place the top half of the bottle inside of the bottom half with the spout facing inward, and tape the two halves together.

Step 5

You can wrap the trap with a dark cloth or paper to make it more appealing to mosquitoes. Make sure you can remove it to make your observations.

Step 6

Pour warm water into the trap, about halfway between the nozzle and the bottom, and place outside in a dark area.
