The Special Collections Room at Central Library is located on Upper Level 3 of the Goodhue Building and accessible by appointment only.
All materials in the Special Collections Room are reference material. To view items in the Special Collections Department, please submit the online appointment form. A staff member will contact you within 24 hours, Monday-Friday. Same-day appointments are not accepted.
All visitors must show current government-issued photo identification upon arrival.
Please note the following guidelines for the Special Collections Reading Room:
- Users must wash hands before entering the Special Collections Reading Room.
- Users must sign a Reader Registration form and a photography policy form upon arrival.
- Personal items will need to be checked in at the front desk.
- Food and drinks are prohibited.
- Ink pens are prohibited. Pencils and laptops are acceptable for personal note-taking.
- Users assume sole responsibility for infringement of literary rights and/or copyrights that pertain to materials.
- Please alert staff if you need to leave the Reading Room and you have plans to return.
- Flash photography is prohibited.
- Always obtain permission from staff before taking photographs.
- Personal scanners, tripods and flashes are prohibited.
- Photographs taken are for personal reference and research only.
- Use of any photo or image created from collection materials for publication or commercial use may incur a use fee. Please consult the staff.
