Notice of Consideration to Dedicate the Vermont Square Branch in Honor of Rita Walters
The Board of Library Commissioners is considering the dedication of the Vermont Square Branch in honor of Rita Walters, an influential champion of civil rights, former LAUSD board member, the first African American woman member of the City Council, and a five-term library commissioner during the greatest period of expansion in the department’s 145-year history.
