Daniel José Older

Daniel José Older is the award-winning author of both YA and adult books. His most recent book is the middle grade fantasy, Flood City. His many other books include Shadowshaper Legacy, the final book in the acclaimed Shadowshaper Trilogy and the Dactyl Hill Squad series of middle grade books: Dactyl Hill Squad and Dactyl Hill Squad Book 2: Freedom Fire. His New York Times bestselling Young Adult novel, Shadowshaper, was a New York Times Best Book of the Year. Winner of the International Latino Book Award, he has been nominated for the Kirkus Prize, the Locus and World Fantasy Awards, and the Andre Norton Award. Shadowshaper has also been optioned by Tony-winning actress Anika Noni Rose. His journalism on social justice, diversity, and gentrification appears regularly in The Guardian.

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
