Catalina Holguin
Catalina Holguín es directora y socia fundadora de Mákina Editorial, una empresa especializada en la producción y distribución de publicaciones digitales. Su producto más emblemático es MakeMake (www.makemake.com.co), una plataforma de distribución de libros digitales para niños y jóvenes que representa a más de 75 editoriales de América Latina, poniendo sus libros al servicio de colegios y bibliotecas de Colombia, Estados Unidos, Perú y México.
After finishing a BA and MA in English Literature at McGill University, Canada, Catalina worked for five years at the National Library of Colombia as a coordinator of digital contents and special projects of the Digital Library. She was also member of the innovators in libraries international group INELI, sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Since 2014, she has been the editorial director and founding partner of Mákina Editorial, a company specialized in the production and distribution of digital publications. Its most emblematic product is MakeMake, a digital book distribution platform for children and young people that represents more than 75 publishers in Latin America, putting their books at the service of schools and libraries in Colombia, United States, Peru and Mexico. An extensive profile of her work appeared in the book Ellas editan published by Ariel in 2019. She is also a professor and researcher at the Master of Publishing Studies at the Instituto Caro y Cuervo in Bogotá. As a cultural journalist and writer, she has published translations, articles, interviews and essays in numerous cultural magazines in Colombia.
