The Los Angeles Public Library encourages and welcomes library users to become engaged with the interactive portions of our website and other digital spaces. This includes commenting on our blog, website, social networking sites and patron ratings and reviews of library materials. We offer these participatory options in the spirit of community engagement, enrichment and empowerment. Before you participate in these activities, we ask that you keep the following in mind:

Flaming, personal attacks, inappropriate language and off-topic comments are not permitted.
We will remove content that contains abusive, vulgar, offensive, threatening or harassing language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive terms that target specific individuals or groups.
We will remove solicitations of commerce.
Comments should be relevant to the specific content that they are attached to.
Gratuitous links to sites are viewed as spam and may result in removal.
We may remove comments that contain personal information (whether your own or someone else’s), including home address, home or cell phone number, or personal email address, in order to protect privacy.

The Los Angeles Public Library serves the largest most diverse population of any library in the United States.

Through its Central Library and 72 branches, the Los Angeles Public Library provides free and easy access to information, ideas, books and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual in our city's diverse communities.

How to support the Library

You can support the Los Angeles Public Library in several ways:

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
