Description:
We'll start with learning about Urban Heat Island Effect causes and the dangers of extreme heat. After, you'll get to use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature outside the library to get a deeper understanding of how urban infrastructure impacts temperature.
We will then go through some safety tips and resources available to you to practice heat safety. Activity #2 will consist of making your own paper hand fan!
The participants will leave with the hand fans that they make. We will provide materials for activities and some icicles to stay cool.
