October is known for many things—cooler temperatures, falling leaves, candy, and pumpkin spice everything. And of course, there’s Oktoberfest and Rocktober. But now there’s Teentober just for teens! What is Teentober exactly? It's a month-long national celebration about all things for teens and focuses on innovative ways we can help teens learn new skills and fuel their passions inside and outside of the library! So whether you’re looking for some new music to listen to while studying, how to make tasty school snacks, teach yourself coding, or you just want to read something spooky, the library has everything you need to make your Teentober full of thrills, fun, learning, and so much more!
When you visit your local library anytime during the year, but especially during Teentober, here are some of the programs, activities, and resources you can get involved with and try:
- Teen Volunteering (Bring a friend and help make the library better)
- Student Smart (Presented by the Library in partnership with the Princeton Review)
- Teens Leading Change (Do you and your friends have an idea for something that can help improve your community? Come to the library and learn how you can bring your ideas to life)
- Teentober Calendar of Events (Lots to do in October and all year round)
- Freegal (Who doesn’t love free music)
- hoopla (E-comic books, movies, music, and tv-shows)
- Tutor.com (24-7 free online tutoring)
