Attention all independent authors in California! Are you looking to get discovered and gain more readers? A wonderful way to do this is to enter the 2025 Indie Author Project Annual Contest through us.
In its seventh year, this contest seeks the best self-published book in eight genres: Mystery/Thrillers, Romance, SciFi, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, General/Contemporary Fiction, Memoir, and Young Adult. Submissions are open April 1 - May 31, and you have a chance to win $2,500, while two runner-ups receive $500 and more! Find out how you can participate in the Indie Author Project Annual Contest by looking at their site. There's also an opportunity to be placed into the Indie Author Project Select, which comprises the top independently published books curated by Library Journal and chosen by editors and librarians.
Last year's winner, Melissa Bobe of New York, won with her adult fiction book, Electric Trees. Her title blends supernatural and fantasy in a series of short stories. A youth librarian by day, she notes that
"I can think of no better organization to support rising indie authors than one that conceives of itself as a community, as that conceptualization speaks to the nature of both indie publishing and public libraries."
Melissa has continued her independent journey with The Illustrated Woman (2024), available through Los Angeles Public Library's Libby collection.
Will you be this year's winner? Get your voice out to the community at large and find out.
