It’s a beautiful thing to figure out who you are and a beautiful thing to learn to love your community for who they are. And as a Library, we take pride in accompanying our patrons on all the paths life can take us. This is part of why we celebrate International Transgender Day Of Visibility. ITDOV was started in 2010 by transgender advocate Rachel Crandall as a day to celebrate transgender people and to raise awareness of discrimination, citing her frustration that the only well-known transgender-centered day was Transgender Day Of Remembrance, a day to mourn the murders of transgender individuals.
We embrace the joy and celebration of ITDOV by highlighting the following books, which are funny, heartbreaking, imperfect, confusing, and all other things that life can be.
