What is Thanksgiving all about? For me, the most important part of the holiday has always been getting together with family, or with friends if I was living far from home, and counting our blessings over a delicious meal.

As part of our celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Los Angeles Public Library staffers were challenged to write a haiku or tanka poem about their favorite food. We unveiled the first group of haikus last Friday, and now it’s tanka time!

Summer programming at your local library can mean lots different things to lots of different people. This past summer at the Canoga Park Branch Library, the teens not only served lunch to community youth (as part of the Summer Lunch program), but really thought about what’s involved when preparing food.
