Whether it is paper discarded after one use, bananas we are afraid have gone bad, or old clothing we can’t bring ourselves to wear, waste is entrenched in our daily lives.
Pollinators play a key role in maintaining healthy ecosystems by contributing to plant reproduction. Through their symbiotic relationships with plants, pollinators spread pollen from one organism to another, while receiving nectar as a result.
Hello! We are the Teens Leading Change (TLC) group of the Silver Lake and Echo Park Branch Libraries. Our project has a general goal of learning about the housing crisis in Los Angeles, and more specifically in our neighborhoods of Silver Lake and Echo Park.
Everyone should have the right to a healthy environment. Yet, air pollution is a common occurrence in many communities where Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) live, work, and go to school.
Our Pio Pico Koreatown’s Teens Leading Change participants chose to focus on making their Hollywood neighborhood cleaner and safer for all to enjoy.
Since Fall 2020, the teen volunteers of the Robertson Branch have been participating in the Teens Leading Change (TLC) program by exploring inequalities in schools, particularly around the school-to-prison pipeline.
The SoCal Readers are the Teens Leading Change participants at the Chatsworth library. They are creating programming around the issue of reading engagement among those with learning disabilities.
During the stay-at-home pandemic order, it became evident that mental health was an increasingly problematic issue. Being sequestered in their homes, teens would also be impacted by events in their domestic sphere. During this time, a worldwide trend became prominent: an upward spike in domestic violence.
The Canoga Park Friends of the Library sponsored an amazing collaborative among Connectopod (a non-profit organization that uses podcasting as a vehicle to develop youth leaders and to instill an understanding of multiple points of view), Mr.
First off I want to start this post by talking about why housing issues matter so much to me. As a person who has lived in California all their life, I have seen firsthand the consequences of the housing crisis in this state. Parks I used to walk in are now tent cities for the homeless.
